Young people across the Liverpool City Region are being inspired to dream big and break barriers, thanks to the incredible work of disability rights advocate Harin Ellis.

Harin recently joined the Liverpool City Region (LCR) Careers Hub Employer Network, driven by his passion for empowering young people to pursue their goals, regardless of the challenges they may face.

A tireless campaigner for disability rights, Harin collaborates with a range of organisations across the region and is an active member of both the LCR Combined Authority Youth Network and the LCR Careers Hub. He is also set to graduate from his supported internship at Greenbank College this summer.

As part of his mission to inspire others, Harin recently delivered two powerful presentations to students and staff at Palmerston Specialist School and Activate Specialist College. His talks focused on his personal journey, the barriers he has overcome, and his ongoing advocacy work, including a new campaign to improve taxi accessibility for wheelchair users.

Impact at Palmerston School

Mrs. Keel, Careers Leader at Palmerston, shared glowing feedback:

“Harin was a breath of fresh air and made a lasting impression. In my 20 years of teaching, he is the most delightful inspiration I’ve come across. Feedback from staff and pupils was overwhelmingly positive. One pupil said, ‘I can be anyone now—Harin told me.’
Harin is not only a friend now, but an inspiration to anyone who faces disabilities or challenges. He is a very special young man.”

Engagement at Activate Specialist College

Mrs. Johnson, Careers Leader at Activate, praised Harin’s interactive and relatable presentation:

“Harin’s talk covered his educational journey and supported internship, highlighting both successes and barriers. His new campaign around accessible transport really resonated with our students. We’re now working with Harin to begin filming as part of his campaign.”

Mya, a student at Activate, added:

“I really appreciated the time Harin took to share his story. It was inspiring to hear how he’s dealing with recurring challenges. I’d love to join his campaign to raise awareness about accessibility for wheelchair users.”

Harin’s Reflections

Reflecting on his visits, Harin shared:

“It was a privilege to visit Palmerston and Activate as part of the Give an Hour initiative with the LCR Careers Hub. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and valued.
My goal is simple: to inspire others to believe in themselves. I’m not doing this for recognition—I do it because I believe in the potential of every individual.
Everyone deserves to be heard. Everyone deserves a chance to shine. And as long as I have a voice, I’ll use it to lift others up.”

Support from the LCR Careers Hub

Julie, Enterprise Coordinator at the LCR Careers Hub, has worked closely with Harin:

“Harin is so committed to making a difference. Despite his busy schedule, he goes above and beyond to support schools and colleges. We truly value his dedication and the impact he’s making.”

Harin Ellis is more than an advocate—he’s a role model, and a beacon of hope for young people navigating their own journeys.
